So when I say, "Just a minute" and the other person says, "Minute's UP!" I think, "Hey, I'm the one who says when the minute starts."

Or you could say, 'I'll get back to you in point two five seconds. By the time they figure out what you mean, you will have had your 'just a minute, minute.'
Then again, I guess it really depends on who you are talking with. I have never really tried it with a mathematician or a rocket scientist or anything.
